Understanding diarrhoea
Diarrhoea: an overview
Each year the typical adult will experience one to two bouts of diarrhoea, often accompanied by abdominal pain, cramps or bloating. There are two types of diarrhoea; acute and chronic. Whilst these symptoms tend to be similar, the difference is the duration of suffering. The majority of people are likely to suffer from acute diarrhoea, which is sudden and short lived, usually lasting for 1 to 5 days, sometimes longer and is not usually serious unless the patient is an infant or elderly, as it can lead to dehydration. All IMODIUM® products are for the treatment of acute diarrhoea. On the other hand chronic diarrhoea is more persistent or recurring and may be a sign of an underlying medical condition, which should be investigated by your GP.

Find out how IMODIUM® works
Contrary to popular belief, IMODIUM® doesn’t work by stopping your bowel movements altogether. Instead it calms down your digestive system with an active ingredient called ‘loperamide’, which helps restore your body’s harmony and can stop diarrhoea within 1 hour.
